1st Degree Black Belt in Shotokan

My name is Pritesh
Patel; I am a 1st Degree Black Belt in Shotokan.
Originally from
Leicester I started doing Karate at the age of 11 and have enjoyed the
sport immensely. Over the years it has built up physical fitness and taught
me self - discipline.
I have been
doing Shotokan Karate for 8 years.
Having achieved
my Black Belt I have been wanting to take up another martial art - but
nothing caught my eye.
I moved from Leicester
to go to University in Oxford; this meant that I could not train anymore
in Shotokan, but, it gave me the opportunity to find another martial arts
school - possibly!
I heard about
'SOMA - The School of Martial Arts' and how it was based on very realistic
situations.
So went along
and watched a session - the techniques were very different and realistic,
to what I had done and other Martial Art schools I had visited!
The School of
Martial Arts seemed an excellent starting point as it incorporates many
different styles of martial arts taught by other high grade Black Belts,
who in turn are taught by the Sifu, (Teacher) within the same session.
In the time I
have been with SOMA I have enjoyed it thoroughly; it already has made
me aware of extremely realistic attacks and defenses in real life situations
that I had not seen before.
