Shinya, has won several Karate Competitions in both Kumite, full contact and Kata in Japan.

Contributed to Nanzan High School Judo Club, successfully completed in 'All Japan Championships' reaching 3rd place.

Shinya, being one of the Senior Sensei's and Captain of the Club, in Japan.

Oxford Brookes University appointed Shinya as Judo Coach for 1997/8.
